Abstract

We investigate in this paper methodologies for top-down design of conceptual schemata in the E-R model. A set of rules is shown that are able to generate conceptual schemata toward a set of refinement steps that correspond to progressive refinements in the knowledge and representation of reality. The final aim of the research is to outline the features of a schema design language seen as an aid for the interactive design of the schema.
